Official pages state KMPlayer can play Ultra HD 4K and 3D movies, including damaged or locked media in some cases. Built-in codecs listed for the PC line include H.264, HEVC, VP9, MPEG1/2/4, VC1, MJPEG and many legacy codecs. 64X also lists H.265 and Blu-ray/DVD content playback.

Desktop marketing calls out a high-quality video renderer, nearly a hundred post-processing effects, noise reduction, screen rotation, and hardware acceleration to keep CPU use lower during UHD playback or multitasking. Audio tools include equalizer presets and normalize options on the classic PC line.
Version 4.2 notes also add sound renderer selection by monitor, MP3 thumbnail extraction, and load-file inspection checks.
